’16: THE AGE OF DISCONTENT
– Janine Booth’s ranting, rhyming, revolting review of the year
From the EU referendum to the Chilcot report, the floods to Oscar Pistorius, from the Queen’s birthday to the attempted dethronement of Jeremy Corbyn, disability campaigning and the junior doctors’ strikes – 2016 is a huge year in politics and society. All these and many more issues are chronicled in performance verse by ranting lefty poet Janine Booth.
The show:
• is funny and entertaining, as well as serious and thought-provoking
• can be as long or as short as suits you and your event
• can include other local acts and/or open mic spots on the theme of 2016 events
• is easily accommodated in a variety of venues: no special staging or equipment needed, just a vocal PA for larger venues (and not even that for smaller ones)
• is suitable for regular or one-off spoken word events, for festive season specials, and for trade union / Labour Party / Momentum / campaign groups
• will be accompanied by a tour poster/graphic, a book and a CD
