‘Ideas For Freedom’ Poetry Fundraiser for Rainbow International

July 4, 2015 @ 19:15 - 22:00

iff b55

Four poets perform at the Union Tavern, Clerkenwell, London to raise money for Rainbow International LGBT Activist Solidarity Fund.

Part of the Ideas For Freedom: Imagining The Future weekend.

Janine Booth is a poet, trade unionist, author, speaker, tutor, autism/disabillity campaigner and Workers’ Liberty member! As The Big J, Janine was part of the 1980s ‘ranting poetry’ movement, and last year took up the muse again. Her poetry book, Mostly Hating Tories, will be available for just £3, with £1 from each sale going to Rainbow International.

Fran Isherwood is a comic poet and singer who recently underwent hypnosis and discovered that in a previous life she had been a renowned reincarnation sceptic. Her effervescent set will take you on a wry, awry, word-playful gallop through the vagaries of life encountering exploding cakes, mail-stealing snails, lollipop ladies, macabre part time jobs, scissor happy surgeons and tripe shops en route. Warning: Contains Puns.

Pat Cash began performing spoken word in a backstreet Parisian bar, before returning to the UK and setting up Spoken Word London. He most often writes about gay issues, LGBT rights and speaking out against hate and inequality. However, he does occasionally end up with poems about a one night stand, a bout of erectile dysfunction or his Facebook newsfeed too.

Andreena Bogle-Walton is an outspoken woman of substance and has many strings to her bow. She has been writing honest poetry as a hobby since February 2014 and has recently started an Open Mic Night for the LGBT community.  Poetry LGBT is held in Tipsy Bar, Dalston,  London on the 1st Sunday of every month.
