Poem-a-Thon for Refugees
December 5, 2015 @ 12:00 - 22:00
Venue: Vout-O-Reenee’s Club
The Crypt
30 Prescot Street E1 8BB
Nearest tube stations: Tower Hill, Aldgate East.
(Janine’s slot is 6.50-7pm)
The organisers write … The idea is to have a constant ‘relay’ of poets reading poems throughout the day. Each poet signs up for a ten minute slot during which they read their own choice of poems. It can either be their own work or favourite poems they wish to share. The poems don’t have to be themed, but poems themed around the subject of refugees would be welcome.
All funds raised, through sponsorship and through donations at the event, will go to Médicins sans Frontieres to support their crucial work with refugees.
Organisers will be present throughout the day to ensure the ‘relay’ runs smoothly. Each poet who reads will be asked to organise sponsors through a group fundraising site (details will be provided once you have signed up). On the day itself, we encourage you to bring along guests to support the other poets and donate to this good cause. There will be a cocktail especially created for the event!
