I have known Janine since she was 16 when she came to interview me for her fanzine on the day Brighton reached the FA Cup Final in 1983. I don’t remember the interview! She became one of our poetic Ranters crew in the early 80s, then got a proper job on the railways, became a union activist and had three lovely sons – and a few years ago started performing again. She is absolutely brilliant – witty, sharp, radical, passionate, intense, one of the best performance poets around.
