Big gig, big names, The Big J …

Stand Up and Spit takes over the Camden Centre for a full on extravaganza of Ranting poetry from its finest exponents. Ranting poetry was (and still is) all about expressing the anger a whole generation felt: being a poet on stage and being part of the crowd. Join us for a what will be an unforgettable evening of performances from some of the biggest legends and best new voices ranting now.

Attila the Stockbroker – former city broker turned punk poet and folk punk star

Janine Booth, aka The Big J – Marxist, trade unionist, socialist-feminist, author, Ranting poet

John Cooper Clarke – the always sharply dressed bard of Salford, still riding the New Wave

Joolz Denby – the UK’s premier punk poetess

Ginger John – the Doomsday Commando

Emily Harrison – fresh talent: “Gutsy and honest and funny, rooted in the angst and energy of adolescence without the whining”

John Hegley – the front man of the Popticians has barely been off stage and screen since 1980

Linton Kwesi Johnson – the original dub poet and British Black Panther, author of Dread Beat An’ Blood and Inglan Is A Bitch

Little Dave – long-standing Harlow punk poet in residence

Chimene Suleyman – already a legend on the live London poetry scene

Mark Thomas – comedian, journalist, campaigner, protester and all-round ranter
