RMT event: Poems for Grenfell Tower

RMT invites its members (and their guests) to join us at our National Education Centre to mark the first anniversary of the Grenfell Tower Fire. We will be hearing from poets who have contributed to ‘Poems for Grenfell Tower’, an anthology that expresses not just mourning for the victims but anger at the causes and solidarity with the ongoing struggle for justice.

There is no charge for admission, but a collection will be taken for the Grenfell Foundation. Copies of the anthology will be on sale, at ten pounds each.

Our guest poets are:

Attila the Stockbroker has earned his living as a poet since 1982, writes about what is happening in the world and what happens to him personally. 
He is proud to have a poem – ‘Keeping Up Appearances’ – in the anthology.

Janine Booth is an RMT member and tutor. She has published four books of her poetry, and has also been published in several anthologies and journals. Janine performs extensively around the UK and internationally. 
Janine’s poem in the anthology is called ‘Bring It Home’.

Al McClimens is a recent graduate of the Sheffield Hallam University MA in Creative Writing and his pamphlet Keats on the Moon was published by Mews Press in December 2017.
Al’s poem in the anthology is ‘High-rise’.

David Keyworth’s poetry has been published in The SHOp, Smiths Knoll, Orbis, Cinnamon Press and Templar Poetry anthologies and elsewhere. His first published poem was on a beer mat.
David’s poem is called ‘The Twilight Shift’.

Lindy Newns is a writer with a strong interest in the way words can be used to effect change. She is new to poetry and still learning its ways.
Lindy’s poem is called ‘Conflagration’.

Mick Jenkinson is a Doncaster-based poet, whose work you may have seen on the wall of Frenchgate shopping centre when you got off the train. He organises the monthly Well Spoken! poetry night at the Brewery and Tap on Young Street. 
Mick does not have a poem in the anthology, but we asked him to compere the event because he is such a stalwart of Doncaster’s poetry scene.
