Soteria in the Pub
June 3, 2023 @ 13:00 - 17:00
Join us for Soteria in the Pub, our open mic event to raise awareness for compassionate alternatives in mental health, at The Betsey Trotwood in Farringdon (London EC1R 3BL).
Soteria Network is an international movement of service users, survivors, activists, carers and professionals fighting for more humane, non-coercive mental health services. We aim to build networks of support, creativity and connection for people in extreme distress.
At our first open mic gig, we heard wonderful, soul bearing poems that spoke to lived experiences of crisis and distress. Friends and families joined to share stories, music, perspectives, and, of course, a good laugh.
Our main guest again is Janine Booth, author, poet, one woman riot, activist and poetry editor at Asylum Magazine. Janine welcomes any poems for submission to the magazine.
The house band Dadford & Son: Frank Burgess, Felix Holt, Eamonn Flynn will also be back to bang out some tunes.
This is a ticket only event, please book in advance via Eventbrite. Tickets are free but we welcome donations of £5-£10. All funds will be used to pay performers, and to help fund future events and plans.
Feeling safe at our gig
During the event, we will have a quiet room upstairs and staff available to be with you if you are feeling overwhelmed in any way.
