Laura Taylor:
“She takes the intensely personal and makes it universal. She takes the universal and makes it personal. She is riveting, inspiring, dead hard and incredibly soft at the same time. This is one of the best books of poetry I have ever read.”
Attila the Stockbroker
“Laura Taylor is a one woman bundle of energy; gritty, mesmerising, a performance that grabs the attention of the audience to deliver a serious message with a typical Northern wit” by Dom Warwick, Rebellion Punk Festival
“local poet Laura Taylor transfixed the main stage crowd with an absolutely masterly performance. What a wordsmith; there was love, anger, and that passion thing in abundance here. Words that made you laugh, cry…and yes, get angry…Not in a negative kick the cat way, but in a Stand Up And Be Counted / Not In My Name kind of way. Inspiring stuff – Simply Splendid.” Taken from a review of the 3rd Wigan Diggers 2013 event here on Festivals For All

Janine Booth:
Marxist, trade unionist, socialist-feminist, author, poet, speaker, tutor, former RMT Executive member, supporter of Workers’ Liberty, aspie, bi, Peterborough United fan!
Many of Janine’s poems are, as she says, all about “venting her spleen on the poetic stage”. For this Workers’ Liberty member, socialist-feminist, trade unionist, spoken-word performer, every day has to be a day for hating the Tories.

James’Bar’ Bowen
“James Bar Bowen is an original acoustic folk-punk singer songwriter from the north of England. His poetic and thought-provoking songs tell personal and political stories from a variety of perspectives, with an enthusiastic (and at times even optimistic) engagement with bigger social, political and philosophical ideas
Isaac Hughes-Dennis
Is a politi-folk comedy musician and occasional magician who combines eloquent wit, upbeat tunes and bold political statements for the pleasure and entertainment of any given audience.
Described as ‘Tim Minchin on steroids’ and ‘The most un-politically correct young person’, Isaac Hughes-Dennis is not one to be missed.
Open Mic from 730pm – all poets welcome!
