I dreamed last night of being chased
By enemies I could not see
I opened throttle as I raced
They kept on throwing things at me
I swerved round potholes, filled with dread
And drove as quickly as I could
Ensured my son was safe ahead
Rode three times round the neighbourhood
And when I woke, I had to know
Just what this dreaming represents
Deep-seated fears of nameless foes?
An urgent sense of self-defence?
I surfed the net and browsed the shelf
Reviewed the work of Doctor Freud
Then saw the meaning for myself
My revelation, overjoyed
I found the answer as I read
And used the psychoanalyst’s art
The cause? Before I went to bed
I’d played a game of Mario Cart
