Shortly before Christmas 2012, the Church of Engalnd voted not to allow women to become bishops. The decision to allow women bishops – with some qualification – was taken around two years later.

While bishops washed their frocks by night
All seated on the ground
An edict from the Synod came down
“It’s still just men allowed”
“Chill out”, it said, for mighty dread
Had seized their trouble minds
“We’ve stopped the liberal PC brigade
And kept it for just mankind
We read it in an ancient book
We’re not quite sure which page
That only persons with penises
May draw the bishop’s wage”
So rest assured, gents of the cloth
Maintain thy morality
For God is love and peace and hope
But not equality
